Understanding The Greatness of Our God

Written By Ric Neres

Many of us struggle with sins, worries and other difficulties in life because of lack of understanding the greatness of God. We are like a pauper who does not know that His Father is the King of the land. We beg for scraps on the streets, when we could have been feasting at the dinner table of royalty. Imagine one day, the representative of the King came to you and say hey, you are a Son/daughter of the King, follow me and I will bring you into His presence, what will you do? In this article we will go over 3 particular reasons so as Christians instead of walking around feeling hopeless and discouraged, we will shout for joy .

In Genesis chapter one the Bible teaches that in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth by the power of His word. Now think about how powerful God is to have created all these things with simply speaking them into existence. Not only has God created these things but they are continually maintained by the Word of His power.

We are boxed in the great cities of the nations, idolizing the works of men and have become blind to the works of God; put away your busy schedule some days, take a nature walk, spend some times in the country, go out at night, look at the skies, look at the massive mountains and think and meditate on the God who created all these things. You may not even have to go that far. Look outside of our house, hear the birds, look at the tiny ants, the flowers with their intricate designs and think about the creator of all these things. Look at how small we look in comparison to ocean, the stars and the moon, friends if God can create all these things and maintain them by His power, how much more can He do for you. How safe can you be in His hands?

God created man from the dust of the ground and breath into His nostrils the breath of life. We are God breathed beings, made by the creator Himself, in one moment of time, no long process of evolution. He just formed us, breathed into us and here we are living beings. This is our second point. Since God created us, He knows all about us, we already covered in the first point that power is not a problem for God.  Now since we know God is truly our creator and Father, why will we not bring all our problems to Him? Why do we continue to put trust in ourselves? . Like the example of the pauper I gave at the beginning, if you find out that your Father is the king of the land, why do we continue to weary ourselves, searching through the dumpsters of life to find solutions? When it is so easy to go to the palace of the King, present ourselves with His representative who found us and ask for all our needs.

He came and put on Himself all of our sins, shame and humiliation and set us free from the bondage of the enemy. Sin is our great enemy. As children , we were stolen from the King's house, sold into the streets to beg for crumbs, but the Lord Jesus came from the palace to find us on the streets. He came to tell us that we are not beggars but children of the Most High, we ask who is the Most High? He said the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth, our Father and our Creator.

See at that moment we should think to ourselves and look at our conditions and ask how much different will my life become if I but believe this message. We look at the messenger and see Him bloody but full of treasures, and we ask Him sir, why did and how did you get so bloody, He answered and said it was all for you, it was to find you through this desolate place, I had to fight for you and I was wounded for your liberty. Now I want you to come with me, to follow me, to ask of me and I will give you, what would do?

We don't know our identity, we don't know that we are children of the Most High. Friends when it comes to sins, the Lord Jesus Christ, the One who is one with the Father, the One who is the Amen, came into our world to free us from the captivity of sin, and His asking us, will you leave your dirty clothes behind and come with me? We can overcome all the sins in our lives by confessing them to Jesus Christ right now and will pardon you. As you follow Him every step of the way , then you will start to understand the greatness of our God. While on the way, tell Him of all your needs, for He created us and will supply all our needs. As you follow through thick and thin, you will learn of Him, you will become strong, for He is strong.

Friends, lets look at the greatness of God. Since God created all things and sustain all things by the power of His word, He is all sufficient for your needs. Since God created you , He is able to heal you of all your brokenness, He is able to create in you a new heart and a right Spirit and put you on the path of righteousness. Since God came to die for you on the cross, it means He love you with an everlasting love, you don't have to do anything for God to accept you , He has already accepted you in Christ. Put all your trust in Christ and He will lead you to the way everlasting, follow Him everyday, learn of Him . For as before you were a beggar on the streets, you did not know how to be a prince or princess. The closer you stay with Christ, the more training you will receive , until that day when you arrive in the palace of the Great King and He will present you spotless before the Lord and you will reign with Him eternally. Friends salvation is easy, just trust in God's word, Jesus Christ is the Word of God, trust Him, follow Him, ask Him to come into your heart and you will find peace  in this life and will reign with Him in the life to come.

When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet.........O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
Psalm 8:3-9

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9.
God requires that we confess our sins, and humble our hearts before him; but at the same time we should have confidence in him as a tender Father, who will not forsake those who put their trust in him. Many of us walk by sight, and not by faith. We believe the things that are seen, but do not appreciate the precious promises given us in God's word; and yet we cannot dishonor God more decidedly than by showing that we distrust what he says, and question whether the Lord is in earnest with us or is deceiving us.

God does not give us up because of our sins. We may make mistakes, and grieve his Spirit; but when we repent, and come to him with contrite hearts, he will not turn us away. There are hindrances to be removed. Wrong feelings have been cherished, and there have been pride, self-sufficiency, impatience, and murmurings. All these separate us from God. Sins must be confessed; there must be a deeper work of grace in the heart. Those who feel weak and discouraged may become strong men of God, and do noble work for the Master. But they must work from a high standpoint; they must be influenced by no selfish motives.

We must learn in the school of Christ. Nothing but his righteousness can entitle us to one of the blessings of the covenant of grace
